Often referred to as The Festival of the Lights, it is a celebration and remembrance of the Maccabees victory, the reconsecration of the temple in Jerusalem and the miracle of the oil. A candle in the Menorah is lit each night with a recitation of blessings.
Chanukah begins at sunset on Tuesday, December 16th. Each night during the eight day observance is marked with lighting a candle on the Menorah accompanied by reciting a set of blessings. The center of the Menorah holds the Shamash, which is lit first and used to light the other candles.
To all who celebrate Chanukah, our sincere wishes for a season of joy and peace.
