Happy Birthday Larry!

LarryOctober 5th is a very important date for Larry Fine's family as he was born on that day in 1902 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While Larry left us in 1975, his legacy is very much alive.

The continuing popularity of The Three Stooges not only here in the USA but all around the world would make Larry proud as he loved his work and worked very hard, along with Moe & Curly & Shemp & Joe & Curly Joe, to bring laughter and joy to generations of fans.

Personal Glimpses of Larry

Here's a note from Kris Cutler remembering Larry: Larry Fine is my grandfather. He was the kindest of men and a loving family man who was wonderful on and off the screen. We were very close all of my life and had wonderful times together.

Wherever we went to a ball game, the market, shopping, out to eat people would always stop him and ask for an autograph or to have their picture taken with him. He always accommodated every fan request, regardless of where he was or with whom. The fans came from every age and walk of life and it always made Larry very happy to talk with the fans.

Larry loved his family deeply, with tremendous caring and giving. His gusto for life also enriched all of our lives in many ways. I learned a lot about life and living from him. He was, and is, a great man. I love him and miss him always, but I feel his presence in my life to this day.

From Christy Clark: One of my fondest memories of my grandfather is Larry after his stroke being able to attend my Bar Mitzvah and sit on the dais. That was very special.

The Family Tree

At the personal level, Larry's legacy is strong and growing. Although Larry's sister Lila passed on earlier this year and his children have left us son John in 1961 and daughter Phyllis in 1989 Larry's family is growing through his grandchildren. There are five grandchildren, with children and grandchildren of their own.

The family remembers Larry fondly and our mail indicates so do the fans. To read more about him, visit our biography page here on the website.
